Yayy, It’s official! Despite the rumors that Olivia Palermo had wed her longtime boyfriend Johannes Huebl in a secret ceremony at City Hall last week, it appears that the duo had something else in mind. Well, kind of. Yesterday, Palermo and Huebl tied the knot in areal secret ceremony in Bedford, New York, then blogging about it on her website.

The announcement reads: “The two said their vows amongst only a handful of family members and closest friends as they were surrounded by ivy and blossoming flowers in a quiet park tucked away in Bedford, New York. We really wanted to keep this beautiful day very private and special to us and enjoyed the whole day with our family and two friends.”

As for the dress, everyone seems slightly surprised that Palermo opted for something more casual. You see, it wasn’t actually a dress at all, but instead..beautiful Carolina Herrera separates, à la a cashmere sweater, white shorts and a flouncy tulle skirt. Huebl wasn’t too shabby himself, white Marc Anthony Hamburg suit and all.  Very “Olivia” though..as she always sets the trends and has the most unique style,  is stunning  and so effortlessly chic in whatever she wears! In fact I was just flipping through a UK magazine this morning and it was all about alternative bridal gowns and the “seperates” look is very now.

In line with her preppy-with-a-twist off-duty style, Palermo chose a classic full-skirted silhouette, but what looked like a very traditional gown was in fact a light cashmere sweater and tulle skirt, worn over delicate coordinating shorts. Her shoes also ticked traditional and quirky boxes, being the same Manolo courts that Carrie Bradshaw married in at her civil ceremony for the Sex and the City movie, (not bought especially for the occasion, but in fact an old favourite) and also provided her essential “something blue”.

Fear not wedding watchers who were hoping for a much more elaborate couture confection – this is “part one – the civil ceremony” the couple noted. Meaning that part two is likely to satisfy all your fashion wedding desires.

Congrats to the gorgeous couple!
