Downton’s back! And it’s most definitely a new fashion era and we are so excited about Lady Mary and Matthew’s wedding that we can’t contain ourselves!! Enough gorgeous Vintage eye candy to keep us going for a long time!
Grazia UK has confirmed some details below about the dress for us! Such a beautiful gown! What did you think? I would love to hear your opinion. I thought it was so perfectly suited for the era and just lovely!
Costume designer Caroline McCall says below….
“Lady Mary’s wedding dress was the most expensive costume we’ve made. It cost around £4,000 to make,’ she tells us. “It’s a silver lace tabard fabric that goes into a train at the back, and underneath is a silk dress with silk sleeves. The detail at the back wasn’t really seen on camera but the lace goes into a V at the back with tiny buttons and it’s completely edged with tiny rice pearls and Swarovski crystal. A vintage veil was anchored on Mary’s head by a 45-carat floral diamond tiara, valued at $200,000, from U.K. jeweler Bentley & Skinner. I wanted her wedding dress to have a bit of softness,” said McCall. “I wanted her to look really romantic, really elegant.”
Uh, can we say wow?!!
Happy Downton Viewing!

Nice post Kirstin. We’re still watching second season so we don’t know they’re getting married..until now lol. Actually I learned it a few days ago online. Also I like Matthew’s suit. Very nice blog!
