Vintage Inspirations for a Modern Day Bride

Chic, Vintage, Inspiration – Grace Kelly’s gorgeous wedding day look!

grace-kelly-bride-vintage-mantilla-veil-classic-bride

Grace Kelly is one of my favorite iconic beautiful brides of all time! Her sense of timeless beauty and elegance is something that every bride aspires to. I just can’t stop staring at her wedding photos, they exude a soft, angelic quality and her beauty is so immense, it’s unreal. She is definitely one of my all-time favorite vintage inspiration looks ever!  I mean, look at the amazing detail in the lace, pearls in the bodice of her dress and the fantastic detail in her veil. Not to mention her pretty face just glowing extreme beauty and class! Really stunning..a true beauty..I could go on and I am sure you could too..

Where did this beautiful gown come from??

Grace’s wedding gown for the religious ceremony was a gift from MGM. It was created by Helen Rose, MGM’s costume designer and personal friend of Grace. The nearly 320 yards of lace used in the bodice and train was antique, and had been purchased from a museum for an estimated $2,500. In addition, Ms. Rose used 25 yards of silk peau de soie, 25 yards of silk taffeta, and approximately 100 yards of silk tulle. The gown had a high, stiffened lace collar with a close-fitting bodice and arms. It buttoned down to a silk cummerbund, and then descended in a perfect bell shape to the floor. The back of the gown was a marvel, the silk skirt dividing in such a way that the antique lace and tulle seemed to flow from the waist into a long, graceful train. The three petticoats beneath were so well made that the designer admitted they could have been worn separately as evening dresses. Each was decorated with tiny blue bows, “something blue”. The bodice and Grace’s lace Juliet cap were re-embroidered with seed pearls, as were her shoes. Ninety yards of tulle tied with bows of taffeta and lace constituted her veil.

Who was Grace Kelly?!

Grace Patricia Kelly was born on November 12, 1929 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her parents were John Brendan Kelly, the son of Irish immigrants, and Margaret Katherine Majer, the daughter of German immigrants. Grace’s mother Margaret, a former fashion model, had studied physical education at Temple University in Philadelphia and was the first woman to be head of the Physical Education Department at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Grace’s father, known as Jack, had won three gold medals in rowing in the 1920 and 1924 Olympics. Jack had started his work career as a bricklayer and after serving in World War I, he created a bricklaying business that made him a millionaire.

Besides Grace, the Kellys had three other children: Margaret Katherine, known as Peggy, born on June 13, 1925; John Brendan, Jr., known as Kell, born on May 24, 1927, and Elizabeth Anne, known as Lizanne, born June 25, 1933. Grace’s brother Kell followed his father’s athletic footsteps and competed in rowing at the 1948, 1952 and the 1956 Summer Olympics. He won a bronze medal in the 1956 Olympics. Interestingly, Grace’s son Albert participated in bobsledding in the Winter Olympics of 1988, 1992, 1994, 1998 and 2002 and has been a member of the International Olympic Committee since 1985.

Grace Kelly was a well known film actress before her marriage. Among her films are: High Noonwith Gary Cooper, Mogambo with Clark Gable, three Alfred Hitchcock films: Dial M for Murderwith Ray Milland, Rear Window with James Stewart, and To Catch a Thief with Cary Grant, The Country Girl with Bing Crosby and William Holden for which Grace won an Academy Award for Best Actress, and her last film High Society with Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra.

Tragically, Princess Grace died on September 14, 1982 from injuries received in an automobile accident. 🙁 We miss her dearly. Such a tragedy..

Enjoy these lovely pics to remember this very memorable wedding and such an aspirational look.

Enjoy!,

XOXO,

Kirstin @ FroufrouLe Bleu

Celebrity Inspiration – Brazilian model Caroline Trentini weds in custom Oliver Theyskens bridal dress!

Brazilian model Caroline-Trentini-married-Fabio-Bartelt-custom-Olivia-Theyskens-11

When I decide to do a post on weddings I love in the media, they have to be a wedding where I IMMEDIATELY gasp with a “wow”!! When I first saw these pics in Vogue last year on model Caroline Trentini’s wedding…I did just that! Swoon!!! After announcing their engagement on Twitter last November 2011, model Caroline Trentini and photographer Fabio Bartelt were married March 3rd, 2012 at a church in Santa Catarina, Brazil. Trentini wore a dress and veil designed by Oliver Theyskens — with a bit of a resemblance to Kate Middleton’s wedding gown… Gorgeous is all I have to say!!

“When Caroline Trentini was fifteen, the model began a running joke with Olivier Theyskens that one day, he would design her wedding dress, and over the years the two playfully renewed the pact backstage at his shows and whenever they met. Oliver Theyskens approached the dress as a representation of the bride herself: a contrast, as he puts it, between strength and sweetness. He chose a dense gold satin coated in white pigment, which appeared faintly matte gray in the evening light in Itajaí, Brazil, the beachside town where the wedding took place and where Bartelt was raised. For a touch of delicacy, the dress was overlaid with white lace, forming a plunging neckline and gracefully slim sleeves. “The fabric is where something was happening,” Theyskens says, though the satin did not arrive from Italy until a week before the wedding.”

Let us gawk over these gorgeous pics!

Enjoy!

Hugs,

Ruche Wedding Collection

Hands down – Looking back..Kate Moss’s dress and veil are one of my favorite vintage inspired weddings by far!  I just adored  everything about this wedding; it’s classically beautiful and so ethereal, I had to dedicate a post to it! At the end…I have added a few examples of similar dresses and veil you can find for a much cheaper price and still have her vintage chic style! Kate is the original boho chic style icon and I am in love with her unique style all her own.

On July 1st, 2011 Kate Moss married Jamie Hince, a guitarist for the Kills, at St Peters Church in Southrop, England in the Cotswolds countryside area. It was a gorgeous midsummer 1920’s Great Gatsby feel of a wedding and gorgeous! Kate’s dress was a beaded, fitted, sheath mermaid gown with a train and designed by close friend John Galliano. Every details was very Kate and loved that it was so fresh, delicate and so so pretty…

Let’s look at some pics, shall we? I am just swooning, aren’t you??!

Check out my budget friendly finds below to re-create Kate’s amazing look (and her amazing juliet cap veil) below Kate’s pics!

Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis engaged!

Olivia_Wilde_with_fiance_Jason_Sudeikis

Ok so sue me if I am a couple weeks late on this news! ha! How did I miss this???  Let’s just say..motherhood and work take over sometimes and I even forgot to update myself with my adored celebrity news? How did this happen??!! Eek!

So, looks like gorgeous Olivia Wilde and boyfriend Jason Sudeikis are getting married! I first remember watching Oliva as she played Alex…a lesbian love interest of Marissa’s on the OC years ago (yes, I am sad..I watched the OC and I was over 30 at the time!).  I just have to say..she has really blossomed into an amazing actress, with so much grace and style…she has really come into her own these days!

“A spokeswoman for Wilde confirmed that the couple is engaged. Joy Fehily released no other details. The engagement was first reported by People.com. This will be the second wedding for both actors. Wilde finalized her divorce from documentarian Tao Ruspoli in 2011 after eight years of marriage. Sudeikis was previously married to “Pitch Perfect” screenwriter Kay Cannon. They divorced in 2010. Let’s hope this union sticks! Second time is a charm as they say..” as the Huffington post tells us!

Wilde, 28, rose to fame on TV’s “House M.D.” Her film credits include “Tron: Legacy” and “Cowboys & Aliens.” Sudeikis, 37, is a star of “Saturday Night Live.” (love how there is no mention of the OC here.. ;-)!). He hosted the MTV Movie Awards in 2011 and appeared in the film “Horrible Bosses” that same year.

No word yet on a wedding date, but you can bet we are excited to find out more details as they start releasing info! Yayy ,excited for Olivia and Jason and I wonder what plans they are making for their nuptials! Maybe something small since it’s a second wedding for both? We shall see!

Looking forward to sharing more news as time goes on! Keep checking back for more celebrity engagement and wedding news!

Top Celebrity Weddings of 2012

Celebrity-inspirational-weddings

It’s so fun to check out celebrity weddings to get inspiration for your own dresses, decor and looks!! Love seeing them!

Here is a fun inspiration board of Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake, Camila Alves and Matthew McConaughey, Ann Hathaway and Adam Shulman, Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds and…last, but not least Blaire Waldorf and Prince Louis on Gossip girl! I would like to note that Jessica’s wearing an obviously very pink dress which is super cute! Also, Drew is pregnant!  Adorable..

What was your favorite celebrity wedding this year?! I would love to hear! Comment and let me know!

So, what’s the verdict…do we love Anne Hathaway’s flower headpiece veil, or..too much? What do you think?

Enjoy and happy Saturday…

Have a good weekend!

xoxo,

Kate Winslet weds Ned Rock’nRoll!

kate-winslet-ned-rocknroll-lg

Kate Winslet has married her third husband! I hope she has found her prince this time. I absolutely adore Kate and she is not only an amazing actress, but seems like a very genuine, sweet person…which is hard to come by these days in the world of hollywood! This time, she weds Ned rocknroll, 34, who changed his name from Abel Smith…he works at Virgin Galactic, Branson’s space travel venture, as head of marketing, promotion and astronaut experience.

Winslet, 37, separated from her second husband – American Beauty and Skyfall director Sam Mendes, with whom she has a son, Joe – in 2010, after nearly seven years of marriage.

The actor is reported to have met her new husband while she was at Branson’s holiday home on Necker island in the Caribbean last year. The house burned down after it was hit by lightning and Winslet was reported to have led her two children and Branson’s mother to safety.

The ceremony was very secret and all on the down low …so not too much news yet to share on all the details. I can only can say that the wedding took place in a converted barn and was attended by just six friends from each side.

I wish them an amazing and happy life together! They look very happy! The question is…WILL she change her name to Rock’n Roll?? Hmm.

xoxo,
